Mutually beneficial relationship between the late President Suharto and the late billionaire businessman Liem Sioe Liong is the base of a book called The Pillar of Suharto 's Indonesia, which was launched in late May in the U.S. .
Book by husband and wife Nancy and Richard Borsuk Chng recently become a topic of discussion forums in USINDO Washington . Nancy Chng discuss the contents of the book in an interview with IRNA Sinulingga .
Nancy Chng , joint author The Business Pillar of Suharto 's Indonesia said the book is about a Chinese billionaire businessman who is very close to Suharto and had an emotional relationship with Indonesia . Nancy Chng says he wrote this book as an objective journalist . This book is not an official biography or family Liong Liem Liem Sioe but is an independent project therefore this book is not merely praised the billionaire businessman .
Chng said , " I think this book is the basis of their symbiotic relationship is mutually beneficial , because when Suharto was in power he could say to Liem he could gain a monopoly on this and that and the other . Sioe Liong Liem In return for providing the money for the use of Suharto . Money is very important to be in power , so I guess the relationship was mutually beneficial and I call it a relationship
The book details the enormity Sioe Liong Lim influence on the business world and the Indonesian President Suharto . Billionaire Liem touches every aspect of life in Indonesia , among other staples , such as wheat and flour , Indomie , Indofood and all big business , automobile industry , cement factories and so forth . Most partially monopolistic duopoly along with Suharto 's half - brother .
Chng said not only Sioe Liong Liem who had connections with Suharto . Many more Chinese entrepreneurs who become relatives of Suharto but Liem is barons number one and most trusted in that period to provide the funds needed Suharto .
