16 Palestinians wounded by Israeli fire
Sixteen Palestinians were injured by Israeli gunfire on Friday.
The number of casualties occurred in two separate incidents near the border fence in the Gaza Strip.
Ashraf Al-Qudra, spokesman for the Hamas-run health ministry, said that a boy aged 12 years was in serious condition after being shot in the head area of the northeast of Gaza City near Jabalia.
Thirteen others were shot injured by Israel after the victim threw stones at Israeli soldiers.
In another incident, a boy aged 12 years who was also seriously injured by Israeli fire near the Sufa crossing east of Rafah in southern Gaza, said Qudra told AFP.
A Hamas security forces were also wounded in the leg by Israeli fire, he added.
Tensions are rising in and around Gaza in recent weeks and seven people have been killed since December 20 - six Palestinians and one Israeli. More than a dozen Palestinians were wounded.
