China on Friday demanded that U.S. President Barack Obama canceled a planned meeting with the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader who lives in exile.
"China firmly opposes this plan," said a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chungying ministry said in a statement on its website, AFP reported.
"We urge the U.S. China's heard complaints seriously and promptly canceled the planned meeting."
China dubbed the Dalai Lama as the "Lamb Hairy Wolf" and accused him of seeking independence for Tibet.
Hua said that China has filed a complaint with the U.S. about the White House plan previously announced by the U.S..
The last meeting between Obama and the Nobel Peace Prize laureate was going on at the White House in 2011 in a speech that angered Beijing, which states that the meeting undermine China-US relations.
