Government of the United States ( U.S. ) expelled three diplomats from embassies of Venezuela


Government of the United States ( U.S. ) expelled three diplomats from embassies of Venezuela , which is a reciprocal action , after Venezuela expelled U.S. diplomats out three weeks ago .

" The State Department has stated that the First Secretary Ignacio Luis Avalos Cajal , First Secretary Victor Manuel Azpurua Pisani , and Second Secretary Jose Garcia Marcos Figueredo Venezuelan Embassy in Washington DC in - personae non grata on," the official said in a statement that sent to AFP on Tuesday .

Third Venezuelan diplomats have been given 48 hours to leave the United States , the official said , in a step that occurs when the President of Venezuela , Nicolas Maduro said he plans to appoint a new ambassador to Washington .

Maduro announced on February 16 that the three U.S. diplomats
expelled , accused of them met with protest leaders under the guise of offering them visas .

But they have rejected the allegations as baseless by the U.S. government .

United States and Venezuela have ambassadors since their relationship soured in 2010 .

Venezuela has been rocked by three weeks of protests , fueled by the anger of students and members of the opposition over the living conditions characterized by rampant street crime , inflation and economic woes .

Maduro reiterated protests inspired coup the U.S. was to attack the democratic government , less than a year since he was elected as the successor to the late icon of leftist Hugo Chavez .
