General Motors Co. on Friday expanding the recall ( withdrawal for repairs ) in respect of the ignition problem to 2.6 million vehicles .
The additional recall is for 971 thousand vehicles .
As quoted by Reuters , the latest recall covers the Chevrolet Cobalt , Chevrolet HHR , Saturn Ion , Saturn Sky , Pontiac G5 , Pontiac Solstice and made in 2003-2011 .
At least 12 deaths related problems recorded in the ignition .
