Government and Opposition Syrian Talks Begin Second Round

The delegation from the Syrian government and the opposition against President Bashar al - Assad was in Geneva for the second round of peace talks on Monday ( 10/2 ) .

UN - Arab League envoy , Lakhdar Brahimi brokered negotiations Syrian government and the opposition in Geneva , Monday ( 10/2 ) . This talk was held after the preliminary round last month ended with virtually no progress , but the benefit is called Brahimi " fairly early " to be the basis of further discussion .

Wide gaps still exist on issues ranging from the possibility of a transition government to access for humanitarian aid to the besieged areas .

Status of civilians in the war -hit Homs was part of the initial round of talks , and Syria last week reached an agreement with the three-day truce to allow UN aid into the city .

Governor of Homs , Talal Barazi , said 600 people were evacuated on Sunday ( 9/2 ) of the areas under rebel control . The workers of the UN and the Syrian Red Crescent help the large group .

However , eye - witnesses report said a number of women and children who tried to leave the city were killed and injured after being hit by mortar rounds .VOA
