The rupiah traded among banks in Jakarta on Tuesday morning to move into position Rp12.200 per U.S. dollar , down 17 points from the last position on Monday ( 3/1 ) .
Head of Research Futures Monex Investindo Ariston Tjendra say , the U.S. dollar strengthened slightly restrained after the country's economy reported slower than expected while the Federal Reserve to consider a reduction in the monthly bond buying program .
" U.S. manufacturing index fell below economists forecast in January , " he said .
However , he added , according to the general view of the U.S. economy will still move with a good growth rate during 2014.
While market analysts, Bank Mandiri Eka Putri Renny said , the success of Indonesia recorded a surplus of 1.52 billion U.S. dollars in trade balance in December 2013 will be able to withstand more pressure on the rupiah .
According to him , the trade surplus in December 2013 can be a capital for the stability of the rupiah in the middle of the external negative sentiment .
" External factors could still be a catalyst weakening rupiah , " he said .
He estimated this week the rupiah will move in the range of Rp12.030 - Rp12.328 per U.S. dollar .
