Syria rejected dialogue with the U.S. before Kerry apologize
Syrian Foreign Minister on Saturday said direct dialogue delegasiya refused requests from the United States before the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry apologized for his remarks at the Geneva Conference II .
" Americans asked us to negotiate directly with them at Montreux , " said Walid Muallem told Syrian state media while traveling home from peace talks which lasted 10 days in the town of Montreux and Geneva , Switzerland .
" But we reject it before Secretary of State John Kerry apologized for his remarks at the conference , " Muallem said in a speech released news agency SANA .
According to AFP , the Syrian government and the opposition start the Geneva Conference II in January 22 , which was also attended by a number of countries , including Russia and the United States .
In his speech at the conference , Kerry said Syrian President Bashar Assad will not take part in the transitional government .
" No way , can not be imagined that the man who did the brutal response of the people to regain legitimacy to govern , " said Kerry .
Muallem also dismissed the existence of a coalition government formed by the opposition parties .
" If they do not stop the imagination , they will get a great surprise because we are a country that is based on the constitution and we have a president , " he said as quoted by SANA .
The regime and the opposition do not reach an agreement in the peace talks for 10 days , even no progress about the issue of ceasefire and humanitarian corridors and the transitional government .
The Syrian government insists on pushing the talk about terrorism , which is a term for any form of attempts to overthrow Assad .
Dialog second round is scheduled on 10th February , with the full commitment of the opposition .
But Muallem diplomat reiterated that the team will be waiting for direction from Damascus linked their presence in the talks.
More than 136,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict took place in March 2011 in the country , while more than 2.4 million Syrians are also forced to flee .
