Scotland could be independent on March 24, 2016 , if people choose to separate from the UK in an independence referendum local deputy prime minister said .
That date has been included in the Scottish Government White Paper described as a "blueprint " of the country 's independence .

Deputy Prime Minister of Scotland , Nicola Sturgeon , said the independence campaign document that contains an explanation of economic growth , employment and justice in the country .

Independence referendum will take place on September 18 next year , and the proposed Independence Day is Thursday, March 24, 2016 following the dissolution of the current Scottish Parliament , which is set to be scheduled to take place at midnight on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 .
