Toyota promises up to 95 percent increase component


 Toyota has promised to increase the local component to 95 percent in some years .

" Localization us ( Toyota cars in Indonesia ) is still small , " said Vice President Director of PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia ( TMMIN ) Mamoru Akiyama , in Tokyo .

At a dinner with a number of Indonesian journalists who were invited to attend the opening of Toyota and Lexus 's Tokyo Motor Show , it was revealed , compared to Thailand , the local component level cars Toyota is still small, only about 60 to 80 percent . " Total local components in Thailand could reach 95 percent , " he said .

While in Indonesia , the highest total local components exist on the Innova which reached 80 percent , while other cars like Fortuner is still around 60 percent .

" We will increase the level of local components . 's Why we take the component suppliers ( from Japan ) to invest and partner with local entrepreneurs in Indonesia , " he said .

Akiyama targeting local component level in 2016 in Indonesia have gone up , at least equal to Thailand . Currently, Indonesia has become a production base for Toyota to model the multi-purpose vehicle ( MPV ) Innova and Avanza , SUVs ( sport utilities vehicle ) Fortuner and Rush , as well as the hatchback Etios .

" For Fortuner , we would expect exports exceeded 50 thousand units , " said Wapresdir TMMIN from Indonesia , Johnny Darmawan , added . Last year exports had reached 40 984 units of Fortuner . Until the first half of 2013, exports of medium SUVs has reached 22 435 units .
