A Russian diplomat and wife stabbed in Sudan
A Russian diplomat and his wife was stabbed in the Sudanese capital on Tuesday by a man who was upset over the death of his brother in the Central African Republic chaotic.
The attackers thought consul general and his wife are from a country that has sent troops into the country, police said in a statement Khartoum.
Both of these couples are in a stable condition, he added.
Central African Republic, on the border with Sudan, facing chaos in March after a coalition insurgents, Selaka, besieging the capital and carry out a wave of killings and looting.
France, the former colonial countries have sent troops to defend its citizens and supporting peacekeeping force trying to quell the violence.
The EU has also pledged to send troops, but Russia did not deploy troops.
The assailant told the police officers who arrested and questioned him that his brother had been killed "by the forces of one of the European countries," police said.
"There was no motive other than revenge for the stabbing death of brother actors," a police statement said.
The duty officer at the Russian embassy in Khartoum said he could not comment and the Russian Foreign Ministry could not immediately reached for comment.
