Two southern Thai village chief shot dead

Two village chiefs were killed and one person was seriously injured in a shooting attack that occurred on Wednesday morning at a rubber plantation in Rueso district, Narathiwat province's southern border.

The villagers were tapping rubber trees when they were shot by unidentified gunmen using a hunting rifle.

Police believe the violence was the work of rebels who intend to kill innocent people every day, according to TNA.

In neighboring Yala province, two paramilitary soldiers were wounded in a bomb ambush when they are on duty to provide protection for teachers.

Rebels put two improvised explosive devices themselves near the entrance of Wang Samran School in Yaha district and detonate them when the teacher protection unit into the school.

Two guards were injured and sent to a local hospital.
