Indonesian Manufacturing Indicators Slightly

Indicators of manufacturing PMI ( Purchasing Managers Index ) released by HSBC Indonesia showed a slight increase in January . However , there are concerns that the tightening of Bank Indonesia may not run as fast as expected , HSBC wrote on Monday .

The index hit 51.0 in January compared to 50.9 in December . This reflects little growth in the manufacturing sector operations .

" The development of [ PMI ] now become a positive projection of the manufacturing sector , " said HSBC economist Su Sian Lim .

. However , Lim suggests rise in new orders in January seems particularly got a boost from foreign rather than domestic sphere . According to Bank Indonesia should remain alert to these conditions .

Index below 50 mengindiksikan contraction in manufacturing activity , while an index above 50 indicates expansion .

The government hopes to grow the economy rate of 6.0 % this year , down from the 6.2 % forecast in 2013 to 6.5 % according to the weakening demand for exports from Indonesia as well as a series of policy tightening by Bank Indonesia and the government intended to reduce imports and the current account deficit runs .|BBC
