Israeli soldiers in the West Bank arrested four Palestinian children aged five to nine years for more than an hour away in handcuffs on Friday , Palestinian witnesses said .
AFP reported Israeli military spokeswoman said soldiers detained several minors during a riot in the village of Kfar Qaddum in the northern West Bank , but they were only detained briefly .
" A group of Palestinian children seen burning tires , " he said . " It usually begins with a riot that rolled burning tires toward the security officer " .
" The army detained children was to prevent unnecessary violence and when a commander arrived shortly afterwards , they are released , " he said .
He did not provide information on the age of the children or the use of handcuffs in that case , but said that the incident was being studied by the military .
Palestinian activists Ashtiye Murad told AFP clashes with the army in the village during the weekly protest against the Israeli occupation by Palestinians and international activists .
" Four children are there in the region grenade thrown by Israeli soldiers so that they are scary , " said Ashtiye of the Popular Struggle Coordination Committee of the village.
" Then the soldiers hold their hands and bind them to the back with a plastic rope , " he added .
The fourth child was Tariq Hikmet ( 9 ) , Hossam Khaldun ( 7 ) , Malak Hikmet ( 6 ) and Ahmad Abdesalam ( 5 ) , he said .
