Indonesian Rupiah Weakens will Continue Until Presidential Election

Standard Chartered Bank economist Fauzi Ichsan , argued the rupiah will continue to weaken against the U.S. dollar exchange rate up to the Presidential Election 2014.

" Rupiah difficult to reach Rp 10,000 per dollar , he could only be reached Rp 11,000 per dollar after the presidential election in October 2014 , " said Fauzi Ichsan in Jakarta , Monday ( 3/2 ) .

Loulembah current exchange rate of the dollar against the rupiah continued to strengthen until today at the rate of Rp 12,215 . This condition is expected to continue until the second half of 2014 and is expected to strengthen the rupiah to Rp 11.000/perdollar figures in the second half of 2014. Dollar to remain strong until the completion of elections .

" In the first half of 2014 the dollar will rise in the number of Rp 12.500/per dollars , in the second half later rupiah will strengthen to Rp 11,400 , " said Ichsan .

According Ichsan , currently , there are three factors that make the rupiah weakened against the dollar . Fauzi said the ongoing issue of tapering makes dollars not be strengthened in the near future , plus the current account deficit is still large .

In the first half will still be weak because there are some issues of quantitative easing , the current account deficit and also the election . Because of these three factors also affected , the rupiah will strengthen in the second half .
