Daulah Islamiyah or formerly known as ISIS released a video online that showed the beheading of a journalist the United States.

According Daulah Islamiyah, the victim named James Foley, a freelance journalist who was arrested in Syria in late 2012.

The militia Daulah Islamiyah said it was meant as retaliation for US air strikes recently to the group Click Daulah Islamiyah in Iraq.
The video has not been independently verified, but the White House says if the video is to be authentic, the United States would be "shocked by the brutal murder".

Meanwhile, Foley family wrote on Facebook: "We know that many of you are looking for confirmation or reply. Please be patient until we have more information, and keep praying for Foley family ..."

'Second Detention'
In a video entitled A Message to America (Message to the USA), a man who looks like James Foley wearing orange clothes and kneel in the desert next to a gunman dressed in black.

The militia, who speaks with a British accent and identify themselves as members of the Daulah Islamiyah or formerly known as ISIS, said the journalist's death was a direct result of the bombings in Iraq.

In a statement, Global Post asks "prayer for Jim and his family", and added that they were waiting for the video verified.
In an interview with the BBC in 2012, Foley explained his motivation to cover the conflict.

"I'm interested in the conflict and trying to explain a wide range of untold stories," he said.

Foley also briefly detained in Libya in 2011.

American officials insist they have seen the video and try to verify its authenticity.

President Barack Obama had been notified of the video.
Spokesman for the White House National Security Council, Caitlin Hayden, said: "If the video is genuine, we are shocked by the brutal murder of an American journalist who is innocent and we express our deepest condolences to the family and friends."

The videos are believed to be released by the Daulah Islamiyah or formerly known as ISIS also shows other prisoners who identified as American reporter. BBC
