UK Defence Secretary, Michael Fallon, said Britain's involvement in the military mission in Iraq may last several weeks or months.

Britain, he said, will take on the role of not only a humanitarian mission in Iraq.

Michael Fallon expressed this in the presence of British troops when a visit to the country's air force base at Akrotiri, Cyprus.

"We want to help the new Iraqi government and Kurdish forces. We want to help them to stop military operations and acts of terror groups IS," said Michael Fallon.

He said the British air force will conduct flight missions to gather intelligence about the activities of militant groups Daulah Islamiyah or Islamic State, IS (Islamic State) in Iraq.

The comments came after British Prime Minister, David Cameron, issued peringatakan that the UK will be subject to attack IS.
David Cameron said the crisis in humanitarian efforts in Iraq today is not enough and "security approach" is needed.

IS, an extreme Sunni Islamist group, trying to establish what is called a "caliphate" - a new Islamic state which includes Iraq and Syria.

This group has controlled most of the territory between the two countries in recent months and may have committed mass murder against non-Muslim groups.
