Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation Saturday with its official Egyptian President Mansour Adly to discuss Syria and the war -torn Russian minister to visit Cairo this week .
Kremlin reported in a statement on Saturday that the two expressed their intention to develop bilateral Russian - Egyptian .
Both sides praised the talks between defense ministers and foreign ministers of Russia and Egypt , held on 13 and 14 November in Cairo , said the statement .
The leaders also discussed the situation in Syria , which has suffered from civil war for two years , and the Middle East region , according to the Kremlin as reported by RIA Novosti .
Earlier this week , Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov 's historic visit to Cairo , showing a close relationship between the rise of the nations that the Soviet Union and Egypt enjoyed in the past .
Shoigu told reporters that Russia and Egypt agreed to begin drafting the document in order to lay the foundation for close cooperation in the defense field .
