Victims Killed in Unrest in Pakistan Increases 10
The death toll in the riots that raged in Pakistan's garrison city of Rawalpindi , near Pakistan's capital , Islamabad , grow to 10 people .
Rescue workers said at least 10 bodies and 80 injured people were taken from the area to the hospital due to the riots that erupted on Friday ( 15/11 ) at around 17:00 local time .
Riots occurred after one group of criminals attacked a place of worship and a madrassa in Raja Bazar area of the city when Shiite pilgrims commemorating Ashura , 10th of Muharram .
An eyewitness told local media that some of the participants in it started shooting into the air when they got near the place of worship and a rival group they shouted slogans against them .
Some people started shooting at the roof of the building near the procession thus triggering armed clashes , said a resident , as reported by Xinhua news agency .
Television channels showed images of smoke billowing into the air from the location of the market .
Rescue teams and firefighters rushed to the scene but the angry mob did not allow them to extinguish the blazing fire .
The city civil administrators deploy military personnel to restore peace because the police had failed to deal with the criminals .
