Syrian Conflict: 76,000 were killed during the 2014
Violence committed group calling itself the Islamic State
caused many casualties fell.
2014 was the deadliest year in the four-year conflict in
Syria with more than 76,000 people dead, according to human rights
organizations monitoring the Syrian problem.
UK-based NGO, said 17 790 people killed were civilians,
including the deaths in children who reached 3,501.
While the conflict in Iraq caused more than 15,000 deaths
in 2014 is referred to as the worst year since 2007.
Most of the victims died as a result of attacks by
militants calling themselves the Islamic State, or ISIS, and other militant
groups in both countries.
More than 3,500 children were killed in the armed
conflict in Syria in 2014.
US-led air strikes against the ISIS group, fighting
between government forces and rebels in Syria, and sectarian violence in Iraq
also contributed large numbers of deaths.
Meanwhile, the US-led coalition forces continued air
strikes on Thursday (01/01), to the ISIS power base near the city of Raqqa,
Deir al-Kobane and Zour. A similar attack was also carried out in the ISIS in
Iraq, the city of Falluja, Mosul and Sinjar.
Separately, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad marking the
new year with a trip to the forefront of Syrian troops in the suburbs of
Damascus.
In his Twitter and Facebook accounts, Assad showed
pictures of when he talked with two soldiers with tanks background and shake
hands with members of the army. (BBC)
