Batam island was first inhabited by the Malay people as the strait since the year 231 AD. Island that was once a battleground in the fight against Admiral Hang Nadim was used by the colonial government in the 1960s as a petroleum logistics base in Sambu Island.

Batam Island

 is an island in the Riau Islands province, where there is the city of Batam.
