Making a prequel to the Oscar -winning film Crouching Tiger , Hidden Dragon will begin in July .
The film is titled The Green Destiny , starring Michelle Yeoh who plays Yu Shu Lien female soldiers .
Pre - production of the film is believed to have started . Filming will begin in Auckland , New Zealand , and then continued for two weeks in China .
Yuen Woo - ping , who coordinated all the scenes in the film , will be behind the camera for the prequel .
Crouching Tiger , Hidden Dragon is a Chinese film with the most successful of all time , was issued in 2000 and a cost of U.S. $ 213.5 million .
The film won the Oscar for best foreign language category at the Oscars next year , by winning three awards for technical categories .
