Yusril: President Stay Select, Maintain or Replace Hamdan Zoelva

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Constitutional Law Expert Yusril Ihza Mahendra said, certainty whether the Chairman of the Constitutional Court Hamdan maintained Zoelva will return as a judge of the Constitutional Court or not in the hands of President Joko Widodo. Because, as a person who still serves as keta Court, according to Yusril, Hamdan no longer have to follow the selection of the initial stages.

"In that position, when the first term is up Hamdan, President just select whether to be maintained Hamda or replace it," said Yusril through his twitter account,Yusrilihza_Mhd, Thursday (25/12).

Yusril menjelaskaan, during the reign of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Hamdan was also appointed as the president has the authority to appoint three judges of the Constitutional Court. Likewise with Hamdan career when appointed as vice chairman of the Constitutional Court to be chairman.

For that if Hamdan first term is up, the authority is also returned to the President whether Hamdan will be maintained or replaced. When followed again early in the selection process of candidates for judges of the Constitutional Court, Yusril understand that it is not a matter of wearing for Hamdan. Therefore, it makes Hamdan back sejejar with new judges.

"If Hamdan asked to face pansel as if she prospective new Constitutional Court judges, certainly not bad," said Yusril.

Previously it was reported that the Judge Selection Committee Chairman MK Saldi Isra ensure Hamdan is not in the list of candidates for judges of the Constitutional Court, because Hamdan refused to follow an open selection in the Office of the State Secretariat on Tuesday (23/12).
