Basarnas (Indonesian search and rescue ) muster ships to search AirAsia flight
QZ8501 AirAsia plane lost contact on a flight from
Surabaya to Singapore.
National Search and Rescue Agency has deployed six
vessels and two helicopters to search for AirAsia plane QZ8501.
"Six ships and two helicopters flown from Jakarta,
Tanjung Pinang, Batam, Palembang, Pekanbaru, and Medan," said Head of
Public Relations Basarnas, Dianta Build.
Search process, according to him, will be concentrated in
the waters around the island of Bangka and Belitung.
Ministry of Transportation stated AirAsia flight from
Surabaya to Singapore QZ8501 disappeared from radar on Sunday (28/12).
According to the Head of Public Communication, Ministry
of Transportation, JA Barata, the plane took off from Juanda Airport, East
Java, at 5:36 pm.
Supposedly, the plane landed in Singapore at 08.30 local
time. However, the plane disappeared from radar at 7:35 pm.
"The plane was carrying 138 adult passengers, 16
children and 1 infant. The plane was manned by two pilots, four cabin crew, and
a flight engineer, "said JA Barata told the BBC Indonesia, Jerome Wirawan. (BBC)
