The Syrian government to allow the delivery of drugs into
the opposition-controlled areas Aleppo, said the World Health Organization
(WHO).
WHO officer, Elizabeth Hoff, said the government also
promised to provide access to the District Mouadamiya and Ghouta east, on the
outskirts of the Syrian capital, Damascus.
He admitted hoping to Aleppo drug delivery can be done
next week.
Furthermore, Hoff explains drug delivery has been
negotiated in a high-level meeting.
"We used to have some problems with the delivery of
surgical supplies, syringes, but the situation is much better today," said
Hoff.
East Ghouta has long been closed for assistance, Hoff
added. Relief supplies to East Ghouta will also include vaccines.
A UN envoy recently called for a ceasefire in Aleppo to
allow the delivery of aid.
The United Nations estimates that about 4.7 million
Syrians are in areas difficult to reach, with at least 240,000 people besieged
the battle between the government and the opposition.
Since conflict erupted in Syria in 2011 more than 200,000
people were killed and more than 9 million people to flee to neighboring
countries.(BBC)
