Sierra Leone closed three
days because of Ebola
Health workers wearing protective
clothing entered the Ebola treatment center in Freetown, Sierra
Leone.
Sierra Leone declared the
north part of the country will be closed for at least three
days to cope with the spread of the Ebola epidemic.
Shops, markets and transport services that
are not related to Ebola will be closed,officials said.
Sierra Leone has
banned a number of Christmas celebrations.
Over 7,500 people
have died since an outbreak in West Africa to thus
far.
The World Health Organization (WHO) said
that Sierra Leone is a country hardest hitwith over 9,000 cases
and 2,400 died since the outbreak emerged.
Other countries that
are severely affected by Ebola are Liberia and Guinea.
Alie Kamara,
Minister for the Northern Region told the news agency AFP,
most publicevents will be canceled.
"The citizens of Islam
and Christianity are not allowed to pray in the mosque and
the Church during the closure of the country's Christian residents,
except on Christmas day," said Kamara.
Vehicles that are
permitted to operate only the officially commissioned to
do workrelated to Ebola, Kamara added. (BBC)
