Muhammadiyah Support Jokowi Apply Death Penalty
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA-- Muhammadiyah support President
Joko Widodo (Jokowi) carry out the death penalty for drug traffickers. It was
announced by the Chairman of Muhammadiyah, Malik Fajar while receiving
President Jokowi in Muhammadiyah Da'wah Center Building, Jalan Cikini Raya,
Central Jakarta, Wednesday (24/12).
"Muhammadiyah support the full implementation of the
death penalty for drug crimes," Malik said after the meeting. Muhammadiyah
chairman Din Shams did not attend the meeting because it was out of town.
According to Malik, the death penalty was deserved reward
for drug dealers who have destroyed the future of many young people. In the
same occasion, the President Jokowi added, in a day there is no 40 to 50 young
people who died from drug Indonesia. Therefore, Jokowi said, there is no
forgiveness for illicit goods dealers.
He believes the death penalty will not interfere with
Indonesian diplomacy related workers who are also facing the death penalty
abroad. Although currently there are about 265 migrant workers facing the death
penalty abroad for various cases.
