A leopard attacked and killed a child in Kashmi
A girl was attacked and killed by a leopard in India -controlled Kashmir , police said on Tuesday ( 1/4 ) .
The attack occurred in the village of Bangdadi - Malpora in Baramulla district , around 60 kilometers in the northwest city of Srinagar, summer capital of India -controlled Kashmir .
" A daughter , Shaheena Bano , was attacked by a leopard near his home in Sheeri , " said a police spokesman , as quoted by Xinhua .
" The girl died on the spot . "
The attack caused panic in the area . The spokesman said the girl 's body was handed over to family members for burial .
Wildlife officials say a leopard and a bear wandering into a residential area , usually in search of food . However , the presence of humans making animals was not safe , so they choose to attack humans .
Sometimes, the animals were attacked by villagers who fear , in retaliation which could also be fatal for them .
There are strict regulations imposed in the region that forbid the killing of wild animals . Wildlife experts say the mass urbanization , deforestation , forest land erosion , loss of forest buffer zones and taking herbs is part of the reason that led to an increase in conflict between humans and animals .
Last year , several people were killed in the conflict opposing human animals in the region .
