Chief Editor of The Jakarta Post a suspect case of
'blasphemy'
Caricature of The Jakarta Post on ISIS considered as
blasphemy by police.
Jakarta Police chief editors assign English daily The
Jakarta Post, Meidyatama Suryodiningrat, as suspects in the alleged blasphemy.
Jakarta Police spokesman, Rikwanto, Thursday (11/12)
describes the case related to the loading of a caricature of a group calling
itself the Islamic State formerly known as ISIS on July 3, 2014 last.
In this caricature there is a black flag with a skull
with an Arabic phrase meaning there is no god but Allah.
Rikwanto told reporters fixing the editor in chief of The
Jakarta Post as a suspect on the basis of a criminal expert witnesses, expert
witnesses religion, and the Press Council.
He said the basis for determining the suspect is
blasphemy in the Criminal Code article on penalty of five years in prison.
The Jakarta Post has issued a statement of apology on
their website on July 7 and stated that these caricatures drawn as potentially
harassing certain parties.
Editors also said they did not intend to insult to
