Jokowi remove foreign labor Card

President Joko Widodo have removed Card Overseas
Employment, KTKLN, because they have been abused to squeeze workers or
Indonesian migrant workers when leaving and arriving in Indonesia.
This was announced by President during a video conference
with the workers in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Egypt, Malaysia and Brunei,
in the Situation Room, Executive Office Building at the State Palace complex,
Sunday (30/11) afternoon.
"And finally, I want to say, KTLN removed,
already!" Jokowi president said at the end of the video conference, and
then the applause of the workers, as reported by BBC Indonesia, Heyder Affan.
Earlier, in the video conference, the representatives of
migrant workers in various countries that submit an entry for President remove
KTKLN because they have to burden them.
They also put up banners and posters demanding that KTKLN
contents removed.
The poster can be seen clearly by the President and the
ministers Jokowi via video conference.
"If you can not take action (officers at the airport
who collects), just delete KTKLN," said Yati, spokesman for the workers
who are in Singapore.
A similar proposal was voiced migrant workers in Brunei
who said, "We asked to be deleted, not revised. The card is not only a
mental overload, but also the material," said the spokesman.
Official site BNP2TKI mention, KTKLN an identity card
which must be owned by each migrant workers abroad as mandated by Law No. 39 of
2004 on the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Workers Abroad.
BNP2TKI admit there extortion
After the event, the Head BNP2TKI Nusron Wahid admits
there is a person in the airport that charge to migrant workers if they do not
have the card.
"Rate markets (extortion) Miscellaneous, there is
Rp200,000, Rp300,000, Rp400,000, there is Rp500,000," said Nusron told
reporters.
BNP2TKI head Nusron Wahid admitted KTKLN been abused to
squeeze workers.
According to him, the existence of this card is useful,
because "good data information", but in practice the card where it
"had not trusted" by the workers.
"It is not believed to be a mechanism," said
Nusron.
As an alternative to replacement, the government will
hold a cabinet meeting to discuss the mechanism of structural changes in the
placement and protection of migrant workers as a whole, said Nusron Wahid.
Previously, the Indonesian government has promised to
audit the Company's employment Private Indonesia (PPTKIS) and systems to
prevent violations in the process of recruitment, placement until the
deportations.
International Labour Organization (ILO) says about
700,000 Indonesian people go abroad to become migrant workers each year. (BBC)
