A giant origami boat descent directed by engineer
Isambard Kingdom Brunel was launched at a lake in south London.
Nearly 100 meters of paper used to make boat length 12
feet (3.7 m) - which can accommodate one person.
The boat was launched by schoolchildren in the lake boat
in Southwark Park.
Engineers Morwenna Wilson, 32, who is a direct descendant
of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, piloting the boat's maiden voyage.
Wilson, who is the great-grandson Brunel, said, "My
family really liked the field of engineering. I want to show young people that
a career in engineering can be an opportunity to opportunity and an amazing
experience. "
Brunel designed the SS Great Britain - long-distance
passenger ship made of iron.
This paper boat, which was designed by a group of
engineers, made to promote The Big Bang Fair - a celebration of science and
technology which will take place at the NEC, Birmingham from 11 to 14 March. (BBC)
