Mohammed Hashim, denied reports that mention the hundreds of fishermen arrested
by Indonesian authorities last week. They are alleged to have boat people and
illegal fishing in Indonesian water territory.
Headline contacted by phone on Monday, November 24th,
2014, Zahrain claimed to have received information from the Inspector General
of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and the Department of Immigration that
hundreds of people were arrested not a citizen of Malaysia.
"After review, they could not Speak Malay, do not know
anything about Malaysia, can not sing the national anthem of Malaysia. Indeed,
there are one or two people who use a T-shirt with the image of the Malaysian
flag, but not the means justify them come from there, right?" he
explained.
Nevertheless, Zahrain said still waiting for the
identification of people who are arrested. Zahrain was added, even if they come
from Malaysia, not necessarily the hundreds of people that are their citizens.
Meanwhile, when asked about the initial notification was
sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zahrain also mention yet received it.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Michael Tene, who contacted
headline today, said the initial notification sent to the two Embassies, namely
Malaysia and the Philippines. The contents of the initial notification, Tene
said, citing a preliminary evidence fishermen from both countries are fishing
illegally in Indonesian territory.
"According to information we received from the
Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF), they are now preparing the
minutes to find out how many citizens of Malaysia or the Philippines are
caught," said Tene.
In fact, he added, could have been, there is no
nationality, because they are traditional fishing in the border.
"The number of exactly how many citizens of the
Philippines or Malaysia, still we verification. But, it is an indication of the
beginning, there were some Malaysians and Filipinos were caught," he said.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Tene, will continue to
work closely with the relevant agencies, ranging from the CTF, Embassy of
Malaysia and the Philippines embassy in Jakarta.
Information to the detention of hundreds of fishermen
This stems from the statement of the Cabinet Secretary, Andi Widjajanto when
encountered Reuters last week. Andi when it said Indonesian authorities have
arrested hundreds of Malaysian fishermen who were fishing illegally steal.
When the headline clarify it to the Navy, the Navy Chief
Information Office, Manahan Simorangkir explain, hundreds of people it is a
traditional fishing. They are not modern fishermen who use large vessels and
came especially from Malaysia.
"Hundreds of people were living in Derawan Island
since the 1980s and livelihood by fishing," said Manahan.
