Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS / aɪsɪs /)
(Arabic: الدولة الاسلامية في العراق والشام al-Dawla al-Islamiya al-'Irāq fi
wa-al-Sham), also known as the Islamic State [2] [3] (English : Islamic State
(IS) Arabic: الدولة الإسلامية ad-Dawla al-'Islāmiyyah), and the Islamic State
of Iraq and the Levant (English: The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
(ISIL)) is a country and Jihad militant group that is not recognized in Iraq
and Syria. The group is in its original form is composed of and supported by
various Sunni insurgent groups, including organizations such as the predecessor
Mujahedeen Shura Council [4] and Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) [5], including the
rebel group Jaysh al-Fatiheen, Jund al -Sahaba, Katbiyan Ansar al-Tawhid wal
Sunnah and Jeish al-Taiifa al-Mansoura, and a number of Iraqi tribes who
claimed Sunni.
ISIS is known for having a harsh interpretation or
commentary on Islam and brutal violence [6] [7] such as suicide bombing, [8]
and loot the bank. [9] The target ISIS attacks directed especially against
Shiite Muslims [10] and Christian [11 ]. Insurgents in Iraq and Syria has
killed thousands of people. United Nations (UN) said more than 2,400 Iraqi
civilians were killed along the majority of June 2014. The death toll was the
worst of the violence in Iraq in recent years. [12] Action Islamic State of
Iraq and Syria (ISIS ) This has led to no less than 30,000 small town in
eastern Syria to evacuate. [13]
Central figure Militants Behind ISIS is Abu Bakr
al-Baghdadi. [14] Under his leadership, ISIS declared themselves to join the Al
Nusra Front, a group that claims to be the only affiliate of Al-Qaeda in Syria.
ISIS has close ties to al-Qaeda until 2014. However, since the turn of the
mission the mission of the national struggle with creating a sectarian war in
Iraq and Syria and the use of violence, Al-Qaeda and did not recognize this
group as a part of it again. [15 ] Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi even vowed to lead the
conquest of Rome, the capital of Christianity-Catholic, Vatican City precisely
located in the city center of Rome, Italy. [16] ISIS militant leader Abu Bakr
al-Baghdadi also called on Muslims to abide him. [17]
Ideology and trust
ISIS is an extremist group that follows the hardline
ideology of Al-Qaeda and deviate from the principles of jihad. [18] As with
al-Qaeda and many other modern jihadist groups, ISIS arises from the ideology
of the Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamist group first in the world in the 1920s
an in Egypt. [19] ISIS follow the extreme anti-Western which he as an
interpretation of Islam, the religion promotes violence and considers those who
do not agree with the interpretation as infidels and apostates. Simultaneously,
ISIS (now IS) aims to establish an Islamic state in Iraq Salafi-oriented, Syria
and other parts of Sham. [18]
ISIS ideology derived from modern Islamic branch which
aims to return to the early days of Islam, rejected the "innovation"
in the religion that they believe have "corrupt" of the spirit of the
original. They condemned the last Caliphate and the Ottoman Empire (Ottoman
Empire; now the Republic of Turkey) as deviating from what they refer to as
pure Islam and therefore have sought to establish the caliphate itself. [20]
However, there are some Sunni commentators, Zaid Hamid, for example, and even
Salafi jihad and muftis as Adnan al-Aroor and Abu Basir al-Tartusi, which says
that the ISIS and associated terrorist groups are not present at all Sunni, but
the Khawarij accused of heresy that serve the agenda of anti-Islamic empire.
[21] [22] [23] [24]
Salafis like ISIS believes that the only legitimate
authority can perform jihad leadership, and that the first priority on fighting
in other areas, such as the fight against the countries of non-Muslims, is a
purification of Islamic society. For example, when looking at the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict, because ISIS considers the Palestinian Sunni
group Hamas as apostates who do not have the legal authority to lead a jihad,
they considered against Hamas as a first step prior to the confrontation with
Israel. [25]
History of the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham
Previous ISIS is part of Al-Qaeda. [26] Under the
leadership of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi ISIS had declared himself joined the Al
Nusra Front, a group that claims to be the only affiliate of Al-Qaeda in Syria.
However, because the method ISIS / ISIL is considered contrary to the Al-Qaeda
because the mission has turned from a national struggle with creating a
sectarian war in Iraq and Syria, ISIS is considered no longer in line with
Al-Qaeda. [27] In response, Al-Nusra Front and launched attack resistance to
ISIS / ISIL to regain control of Abu Kamal, Syria eastern region bordering
Iraq. [28] However, because of the brutality and ambition of ISIS who does not
hesitate to commit torture and even murder of opponents, ISIS can control most
of Iraq . Even under the leadership of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi ISIS declared
Islamic State of Iraq and Syria along and also stated Al-Baghdadi will be the
leader for Muslims throughout the world. [29]
On May 15, 2010 was appointed the new leader, Abu Bakr
al-Baghdadi to replace Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, who had died. Along with the
revolution in the Arabian Peninsula, known as the Arab Spring in toppling
dictators as happened in Tunisia, Libya and Egypt, then there is also a
revolution in Syria, only a demonstration of the people in Syria met with
violence from the army of President Bashar Assad. Consequently Syrian People do
perlawaan in armed groups. These groups assisted by fighters from abroad,
including from the Islamic State of Iraq. And when fighting groups of the
Syrian people is finally able to free up some of the city including the border
with Iraq then menyatulah several cities in Iraq and in Syria in the control of
the Islamic State of Iraq.
ISIS is considered more dangerous than Al-Qaeda because
they have thousands of army personnel, who are ready to declare war against
those who are considered to be contrary or opposed to the establishment of an
Islamic state. [30] They become a new political force that is ready to launch a
far more brutal than Al-Qaeda . Revolutionary movement which initially had a
noble mission to overthrow authoritarian regimes have turned into tragedy. ISIS
become a new force that is ready to launch a fierce resistance against the
regime that is deemed incapable of carrying out the mission of the
establishment of an Islamic state. Ironically, they endorse violence to oppress
minorities and attack the regime in line with the paradigm of the Islamic
state. [31] ISIS become a real political force with a clear ideology and the
area occupied by violent means.
The Purpose
From the beginning to the formation of a pure Islamic
state has become one of the main goals of ISIS. [32] According to journalist
Sarah Birke, one of the "significant difference" between the Al-Nusra
Front and ISIS ISIS is that "tend to focus more on building self-government
in the territories conquered ". While both groups share a desire to
establish an Islamic state, ISIS with "far more cruel ... sectarian
attacks and impose sharia law soon". [33] ISIS finally reaches its
destination on 29 June 2014, when it was removed "Iraq and Levant
"from its name, to start calling himself as an Islamic state, and declared
the territory occupation in Iraq and Syria as a new caliphate.
On July 4, 2014, the Union of Muslim Scholars Se-World
(IUMS), headed by Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi, issued a statement that the
declaration made ISIS caliphate to the region in Iraq and Syria are not
legitimate Islamic law. [34]
In mid-2014, the group released a video titled "The
End of the Sykes-Picot" English speaking Chilean nationality named Abu
Safiya. This video announcing the group's intention to eliminate all the modern
border between Islamic countries Middle East, especially in reference to the
borders set by the Sykes-Picot Agreement during World War I. [35] [36]
Public Service Management Center
Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant set up a special
central agency that oversees the various activities of the State related to
public services. Department was named "Al Idaaroh Al Islaamiyyah lil
Khidmati al 'Aammah" or meaning "Islamic Administration Service
Delivery", to be headed by a Director named Abu Jihad ash Shami. Al
Islamiyya Al Idaaroh office provides all the basic services for citizens and
other public needs such as water, electricity, flour (groceries), maintenance
of public facilities, environmental hygiene communication lines, to transport
umum.Dalam electric supply and communication channels, Al Idarooh Al Islamiyya
released a list of electricity tariffs to the maximum extent and internet rates
with price murah.Al Idarooh Al Islamiyya has worked in almost all parts of the
country, especially northern Syria which became the basis of the strongest
Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. [needs citation needed]
Territory claimed
On October 13, 2006, the group announced the
establishment of the Islamic State of Iraq, which claimed authority over the
governorates of Iraq in Baghdad, Anbar, Diyala, Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, Ninawa,
and part of Babylon. [37] After the 2013 expansion of the group to Syria and
the announcement of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, the amount of
authority for-provincial-recognized increased to 16. In addition to the seven
authority for Iraq, Syria division, mostly lying along the border provinces, namely
Al Barakah Al Kheir, Al Raqqah, Al Badiya, Halab , Idlib, Hama, Damascus and
Latakia. [38]
In Syria, the seat of power ISIS was in Ar-Raqqah
Governorate. ISIS main leaders, including Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, is known to
have visited the capital of the province, Raqqah. [38]
Propaganda and social media
The group is also known as the effective use of
propaganda. [39] In November 2006, shortly after the establishment of the
Islamic State of Iraq, the group established the Institute of al-Furqan Media
Production, which produces CDs, DVDs, posters, pamphlets, and web-related
propaganda products . [40] The main media outlets ISIS is I'tisaam Media
Foundation, [41] which was formed in March 2013 and distributed through the
Global Islamic Media Front (GIMF). [42] In 2014, ISIS set up Al Hayat Media
Center, which targets Western audiences and produce material in English,
German, Russian and French. [43] [44] In 2014 also launched Ajnad Media
Foundation, who sang nasheed jihad. [45]
The use of social media by ISIS has been described by one
expert as "probably more advanced than [that] the majority of the US
company". [46] In order to take advantage of social media, especially
Twitter, to spread the message through the organization via hashtag campaign,
encouraging Tweets on popular hashtags, and utilize software applications that
allow propaganda ISIS to be distributed to supporters account. [47] Another
comment was that "ISIS more emphasis on social media than other jihadi
groups. ... They have a presence in social media very coordinated. "[48]
Although social media ISIS on Twitter regularly closed, they often make a
return, maintain a strong online presence. This group has been trying to browse
to an alternative branch of social media sites, such as Quitter, Friendica and
the Diaspora; Quitter and Friendica, however, immediately remove ISIS presence
of their website. [49]
Finance
A study of 200 private -surat documents, expense reports,
and list-name is taken from the membership of Al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Islamic
State of Iraq are conducted by the RAND Corporation in 2014. It was found that
from 2005 to 2010, the contribution from the outside only by 5 % of the
operating budget of the group, with the remainder raised in Iraq. In the period
studied, the posts are required to send up to 20% is the income generated from
kidnapping, extortion and other activities to the next level of the group's
leader. The highest level commander will then distribute the funds to the posts
of provincial or local who is in trouble or in need of money to carry out the
attack. Records show that the Islamic State of Iraq depends on the cash member
of Mosul, the leadership used to provide additional funding for militant
struggle in Diyala, Salahuddin and Baghdad. [50]
In mid-2014, Iraqi intelligence extract information from
ISIS operation revealed that the organization has assets worth US $ 2 billion,
[51] making it the richest in the world jihad group. [52] About three-quarters
of this amount is said to be represented by assets seized after the group took
Mosul in June 2014, including a possible US $ 429 million was looted from the
central bank of Mosul, as well as millions of additional and significant
amounts of gold bullion stolen from other banks in Mosul. [53] [54]
ISIS routinely practiced extortion, by demanding money
from the truck driver and threatened to blow up a business, for example. Rob
banks and gold stores have become another source of income. [55] The group is
widely reported to have received funding from private donors in the Gulf
states, [56] both Iranian and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has accused
Saudi Arabia and Qatar have ISIS fund, [57] [58] [59] [60] although not
reported no evidence that this is the case. [60] [61] [62] [63]
The group is also believed to receive substantial funds
from operations in Eastern Syria, where he was to command the fields involved
in the smuggling of oil and raw materials and archaeological artifacts. [64]
[65] ISIS also generate revenues from crude oil production and selling electricity
in northern Syria. Some reportedly sold electricity back to the Syrian
government. [66]
Equipment
ISIS has been using Stinger missiles into the air, [67]
the M198 howitzer, [68] DShK guns mounted on trucks, anti-aircraft guns, [69]
[70] firing automatic thrust and at least one Scud missiles. [71]
When ISIS conquered Mosul in June 2014, they seized a
number of UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and cargo aircraft stationed there. [72]
[73] However, according to Peter Beaumont of The Guardian, it seems unlikely
that ISIS will be able to put them. [74]
ISIS capture of nuclear material from Mosul University in
July 2014. In a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, the UN envoy to
Iraq, Mohamed Ali Alhakim say that these materials have been deposited in the university
and "can be used in the manufacture of weapons of mass kenacuran" .
Nuclear experts regard as a significant threat. Spokesman for the International
Atomic Energy Agency Gill Tudor said that the materials seized were "low
class and would not present a safety, a significant safety or risks for nuclear
proliferation". [75] [76]
See more of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the
Islamic State
bkar abu al-Baghdadi
Baghdadi is seen being more knowledgeable than Bin
Laden's Islamic and al-Zawahiri.
On July 5, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who was known among his
supporters as Caliph Ibrahim, for the first time showing his face on a Friday
sermon in Mosul, Iraq.
Previous some leaked picture indeed, but Baghdadi itself
does not appear in public for four years since becoming leader of the group
formerly known as the Islamic State of Iraq Jihadists, the name before the
ISIS, which is now becoming an Islamic state.
Prior to April 2013, Baghdadi also not too much issuing
audio messages.
His first was a speech written statement to the death of
Osama Bin Laden in May 2011.
First audio message released in July 2012, includes the
predicted victory of the Islamic State in the future.
Since the emergence of the group, 15 months ago,
information about Baghdadi provided to the media increases.
The amount of specific information about the background
are also increased.
Descendants of the Prophet Muhammad
In July 2013, the Bahraini ideologists, Turki al-Binali,
who uses the name Abu Humam Bakr ibn Abd al-Aziz al-Athari, wrote a biography
of Baghdadi particularly to underline Baghdadi family history.
He stated Baghdadi is a descendant of the Prophet
Muhammad, one of the key requirements in the history of Islam to be the caliph
or leader of all Muslims.
Baghdadi
Previously there was so many photos circulating Baghdadi.
Baghdadi is said to come from the tribe of al-Bu Badri,
which is mostly located in Samarra and Diyala, north of Baghdad and east, and
is historically known as the descendants of Muhammad's population.
Turki al-Binali then mentions that prior to the US
invasion of Iraq, Baghdadi received his doctorate from the University of
Baghdad Islamists, who focus on the study of culture, history, law and Islamic
jurisprudence.
Baghdadi was preaching in the mosque of Imam Ahmad ibn
Hanbal in Samarra.
He did not have a degree of Sunni religious institutions
such as the University of al-Azhar in Cairo or Islamic University of Medina in
Saudi Arabia.
Nonetheless he has more experience than the traditional
Islamic education al-Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden and Aymen al-Zawahiri, both
of which are ordinary people, engineers and doctors.
That's why Baghdadi received praise and higher legitimacy
among its supporters.
Being a leader
After the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, Baghdadi and several
colleagues founded the Jaysh Jamaat Ahl al-Sunnah wa-l-Jama'ah (JJASJ), Armed
Forces Residents Sunni group, which operates from Samarra, Diyala, and Baghdad.
isis
Islamic countries try to control the oil-rich region in
Iraq and Syria.
Within this group, Baghdadi became the leader of legal
council. US-led forces hold of the month from February to December 2004, but
released him because Baghdadi is not considered a high-level threat.
Following in the footsteps of al-Qaeda in the Land of Two
Rivers renamed Majlis Shura al-Mujahideen (Mujahideen Shura Council) at the
beginning of 2006, leaders expressed their support and incorporation JJASJ
themselves.
In the new structure, Baghdadi joined the board of the
law.
But not long after the organization announced a name
change back at the end of 2006 to the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) Baghdadi
became public officials in the provincial legal council in the
"country" a new addition to the senior advisory board member of the
ISI.
When the leadership of the ISI, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi,
died in April 2010, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi replace it.
Historical figure?
Since becoming leader of the Islamic State, Baghdadi
build and revive the organization in disarray because of the rise of Sunni
tribal rejected while at the same time also increased the power of the US
military.
Compared with the first attempt to rule the Islamic State
in the last ten years, so far, although still using violence, they are seen as
more successful though still raised questions about its sustainability in the
long term.
This success is partly because they combine the
application of hard law to social services, while also feeding strategy.
If explored, Islamic State target areas along the
Euphrates and Tigris River in addition to areas that have oil in Iraq and
Syria.
Baghdadi and other Islamic State leaders realize monopoly
on energy and increase military strength will facilitate the accumulation of
power.
Can not be predicted precisely the fate of the Islamic
State in the future, but Baghdadi obviously make the organization become more
known to the world. BBC
