Widespread
support for ISIS after US air strike
Syrian
President Bashar al-Assad said on ISIS support has been expanded since the
US-led coalition launch air strikes against militants in Syria.
In an
interview with CBS television program "60 Minutes" aired Sunday,
Assad said the number of new members ISIS has increased since the US air
strikes began in September.
The Syrian
leader said allegations that Syria uses chemical weapons against civilians is
Western propaganda. But, he says he does not mind allowing the inspectors to
determine whether it uses chlorine gas against its own people.
He also said
open to dialogue with the United States, but did not want to talk about whether
he will be allowed to remain in power.
The United
States has long said that President Assad is not able to participate in the
future of Syria so that the termination of the battle can be negotiated.
State
Department spokesman Jeff Rathke America said last week that Assad hand and
those close to her "bloody." He said they have yet to prove that they
are willing to hold meaningful talks with moderate Syrian opposition. VOA
