Study: Nearly 50,000 Twitter Accounts Pro-ISIS
Proponents of Islamic Countries (ISIS) using at least
46,000 accounts on Twitter, according to a report by the Brookings Institution
institute based in Washington.
Analysis by Brookings found that most of the supporters
of the militant group was in territory controlled by ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
The report says that the accounts used from September to
December 2014, although not all active at the same time. 500 to 2,000 of them
are "users hyperactive" or account that, according to this report,
put a lot of tweets in a short time.
"Companies of social media and the US government
must work together to develop appropriate responses to extremism in social
media," according to the report consists of 68 pages of this.
Brookings stated that the closure of the accounts of
supporting ISIS proved effective in limiting the scope of ISIS activity in
social media. "Although the discussion of this issue often view government
intervention as a restriction of freedom of speech, in fact, social networks
