A Twitter account affiliated with al-Qaeda branch in
Yemen, put up pictures of militants raised their flag at the military base of
the 19th Infantry Brigade in the province of Shabwa Yemen, South Yemen.
Yemeni military officials say al-Qaeda militants have
seized control of an important military base in the south of the country, after
the ongoing clashes with the army.
According to officials, at least four soldiers and four
militants were killed in the clashes, and at least 15 soldiers were taken
hostage. The military base is the barracks of the 19th Infantry Brigade Yemen
located in the province of Shabwa Baihan area, southern Yemen.
The officials spoke on condition they not be identified
themselves, because they do not have authorization to speak with reporters. A
Twitter account affiliated with al-Qaeda branch in Yemen, which is considered
as the most dangerous terror network, put up pictures of militants raised their
flag at the base.
The photos had also showed the militants are in armored
vehicles. The authenticity of the pictures can not be independently confirmed,
but according to the events mentioned. (VOA)
